China says the policy of no-spreading of the novel coronavirus is the best and most cost-effective, and it will improve

BEIJING (Reuters) – A spokesman for the ruling Communist Party said on Saturday that China’s measures on COVID-19 are the best and most cost-effective and will continue to improve.

“We firmly believe that light is ahead and perseverance is victory,” Sun Yi said at a press conference in Beijing ahead of the 20th Party Congress.

Sun was responding to a question about whether China risks isolation from the rest of the world if it continues with its COVID-free policy.

President Xi Jinping is poised to win a third five-year term as party general secretary, the country’s most powerful job, at the week-long conference to be held in Beijing’s Great Hall of the People starting Sunday.
