Running back Cam Akers may be on his way out of Los Angeles.
The NFL Network reported Sunday that the Rams running back and coach Sean McVeigh have “philosophical and football-related differences” that could lead to a deal.
Akers is inactive and will not play on Sunday against the Carolina Panthers for personal reasons, and the team is open to exchanging offers for a comeback.
McVeigh declined to discuss the situation Friday, except to say the two sides are dealing with the matter internally.
Akers has rushed 151 yards in five games this season for the Rams. He has 779 rushing yards and three touchdowns in his three-year career. Akers missed all but one of his 2021 games due to a ruptured Achilles tendon.
