For those out of the loop, Kris Jenner and her daughters, Kim, Kourtney, and Khloe Kardashian, sat down with Variety in March for a video interview that’s now viral, during which Kim offered some controversial business “tips.”
“I have the best advice for women in business,” Kim said. “Get your fucking ass and work. Looks like no one wants to work these days. You have to surround yourself with people who want to work.”
At the time, Kim’s comments quickly went viral on social media, with many people calling the advice “out of reach” and “offensive”. Fans criticized the business mogul for lecturing the general public about success without acknowledging the all-important fact that she was born into a life of immense privilege.

Kim ended up addressing the negative rhetoric while appearing good morning americaShe defended her statement and insisted that the quote had been taken out of context. Aside from this, however, fans had no idea how Kim would react to all the backstage backlash.
That is, until this week’s installment of the Hulu reality series Kardashians aired on Thursday. The episode was filmed while all the Variety drama was on hold, and fans were excited to see the extended clip of Kim’s controversial comments.
However, viewers were surprised – and frankly, disappointed – to see that Hulu’s show masterfully modified part of Kim’s “advice”.
“I have the best advice for women in business,” Kim says in the episode. “Get your fucking ass and work.” However, instead of hearing the now-famous phrase, “Nobody wants to work these days,” the footage cuts straight to her saying, “Success is never easy. If you do the work, you’ll see results.”
Well, the discrepancy certainly didn’t go unnoticed by eagle-eyed fans, many of whom rushed to Reddit to accuse Kardashian of “blatantly changing the narrative” while discussing the edit.
One user noted: “They edited Kim saying, ‘Looks like no one wants to work these days.'” Lol they blatantly change the narrative on us.
“I noticed they changed it. I stopped watching right after that,” another wrote.
A third said, “The whole scene from the Vanity Fair interview was comical.” “[The] The way they edited it out by saying, “Nobody wants to work anymore.” Like a sister, we all know what you said, and you can’t take it back.”
“They think they’re so smart they can only edit the lousy parts of REAL LIFE. Like kids…that interview went viral, it went viral, it got infamous. You had to sit down and apologize for what I specifically said about women who don’t work hard. Enough. Why do they think they can erase our memories in MiB style,” another echoed.
And fans were even more upset about the editing since later in the episode, Kim ended up insisting that people don’t know the true “story” behind her family’s appearance.
“Yes, we grew up in a privileged situation, but people don’t know the story of your dad and mom having to sell their Hidden Hills home because they couldn’t afford it and they had to move into an apartment,” Kim told Kendall.
“My mom really started her career and made money at 50, so I grew up seeing her hustle and seeing her wake up every day with all these kids, six of her kids, and she had to take care of them… I saw her work and come up with a solution,” she continued.
In an admission, Kim continued to insist that she has to work “extra hard” to be “taken seriously”. She said, “I think people will assume I’ve got it all for me being on a TV show, but being on a reality show — not to mention a reality show girl with a sex tape — doesn’t open doors.”
“I always felt I had to work harder, harder, to take it seriously and people forget my past,” she added.
Meanwhile, her two sisters, Khloe and Kendall, wholeheartedly defended Kim and accused the entire internet of “spotting her out”. Khloe even reduced fan criticism to “noise,” while telling Kim “none of this is real.”
Understandably frustrated by this, many fans noted that the KarJenners took no “accountability” and became “defensive” rather than taking some valid criticism on board.
One said, “Instead of thinking maturely about it and accepting all the criticism in a way that she can work and develop with it, she became defensive, doubled down on her role, played the victim, and now tried to change the narrative.”
Another agreed, saying, “They didn’t take any time to understand at all why people were so angry.” “Instead, basically opt to double down with some enforced humility ‘yeah we were born with a silver spoon but we had to sell our million dollar mansion once’… Come talk to me when you have to skip some meals because you have to keep the lights on .”
A third user wrote, “They took no accountability in this episode…very frustrating but not surprising.”
