San Jose, California – (work wire) – To strengthen its representation in the EMEA region, the Global Semiconductor Alliance (GSA) is announcing new European members to its Board of Directors and to the EMEA Leadership Council.
The GSA Board of Directors welcomes Jean-Marc Cherry, President and CEO of STMicroelectronics, as a new member of the Board, and Andreas Urschitz, Director of Marketing and Infineon Board Member, to replace Dr. Helmut Gassel.
The GSA Board of Directors represents some of the most influential companies in the industry, and helps guide the organization’s vision to provide a comprehensive global perspective and a commitment to promoting collaboration, innovation, and integration in the industry and across the ecosystem.

Sherry is the president and CEO of STMicroelectronics, and has held this position since May 2018. He is the only member of the ST’s board of directors and chairs its executive committee.

Urschitz serves as CEO and a member of the Board of Directors of Infineon Technologies AG (IFX). Prior to his appointment to the Board of Directors, he headed Infineon’s Energy and Sensing Systems division for 10 years, which focuses on power semiconductors that drive energy efficiency and sensors that power IoT systems. These products reduce equipment consumption and enable decarbonization and digitization.

In addition to the new members of the Board of Directors, GSA is also announcing three new members to the Leadership Council for the EMEA region. The board is made up of C-level executives from leading semiconductor companies across Europe who serve as advisors to the GSA Board of Directors on global and regional issues. The board helps define GSA’s European strategy further, identifying the support EMEA companies need, additional tools and resources, as well as activities across the region.

Alessandro Cremonesi is Executive Vice President of STMicroelectronics, Chief Innovation Officer and General Manager of the STMicroelectronics Systems Research and Applications (SRA) Group. He has managed the SRA Group since 2013 and added the Innovation Office to his mandate in 2020. Cremonesi’s responsibilities span from coordinating global innovation to the company’s advanced research and development to supporting system solutions for ST clients. Cremoni joined STMicroelectronics in 1984 after doing research in optoelectronics at the University of Pavia where he obtained a degree in Electronics Engineering.
Angelique van der Burg has served as Head of Procurement at Infineon since 2019 when she set out to transform Infineon’s procurement support function into a procurement business team that “not only acquires things, but creates value”. You lead a strong, inclusive and diverse team. Infineon spends billions of euros with suppliers, thus Van der Burg sees the great potential and its responsibility to drive innovation along with its global supply base. In 2021, Germany’s Handelsblatt was recognized as one of Germany’s 100 most creative women with the courage to lead change. She holds an MSc in Industrial Engineering and Management Sciences from Eindhoven University of Technology and an MBA from the University of Rotterdam School of Management.
Gideon Werthezer served as CEO of CEVA Inc. Since May 2005 and joined the Board of Directors in January 2010. Wertheizer has 36 years of experience in the semiconductor and silicon intellectual property (SIP) industries. Previously, he was Executive Vice President and General Manager of the DSP Business Unit at CEVA. Prior to joining CEVA in November 2002, Wertheizer held various executive positions at DSP Group, Inc. , including positions such as Executive Vice President – Strategic Business Development, Vice President of Marketing and Vice President of Design for VLSI. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Ben-Gurion University in Israel and an Executive MBA from the University of Bradford in the United Kingdom.
