Students talk about their views on climate change following the outbreak of natural disasters on a global scale.
what’s new: Some students think climate change is a cause for concern, and others think the issue may be more of a political situation.
- “There is no debate about whether or not climate change is real,” said Isabella Smith, senior. We are feeling its effects now. Natural disasters will only get worse and more frequent if we do nothing about them now. Find ways you can help out in your local community and keep the conversation going.”
- “I don’t think climate change is a major threat, at least not as much as politicians have led us to believe it,” said GS student, Slayd Sasser. “I certainly think we should focus on protecting the environment, but I also think the idea of climate change is just a way for politicians to push radical agendas.”
- “When thinking about climate change, the first thing that comes to mind is global warming, especially in the summers and winters in South Georgia,” said young, Lacey Carter. “I personally feel that, yes, everyone can do their part to try to help the environment. For there to be real change, it will take people young and old to work together to help preserve our planet.”
