Mother’s Visits Center for Pain; The nurse doubts her story
Over the weekend, a mom named Jillian shared three videos online. The first clip shows her interaction with the nurse in Philly Pregnancy Center. After the video went viral, Jillian posted the other two clips explaining what happened.
Gillian said she called the center to get a doctor’s note after experiencing the pain. After she requested an appointment for a week, the center told her to attend. On her appointment, Jillian said she tried to explain her discomfort to Smeijo who was seen in the viral video. But for the mother, the nurse was not interested in details.
“When I tried to explain my pain and what exactly I was feeling, she cut me off, and said let me examine you, I want to feel your cervix. So she got up on the table to examine me, she was very aggressive. She pushed her fingers, it was sore,” Jillian said.
After the exam, Smeijo told Gillian she could still work out, and the most she could do was say Jillian couldn’t lift 25 pounds or more. At this point, the mother had begun discussing her case for an excuse to work, but Smigo didn’t budge. So they make their way to the front desk, where Smigo allegedly corrupted Gillian’s information loud enough to hear another patient in the hallway. Finally, the receptionist at the front desk called a doctor on the phone.

While talking on the phone, the doctor asks the mother to move to the back to explain her symptoms. Smigo allegedly said on her way back, “Please don’t take her to my office.” And the mother answered, “No one wants to go to your office, you’re so cranky.”
After that, Smigo comes to Gillian and informs her that she called the police due to an eccentric insult.

In the second explainer video, Jillian revealed that she had a panic attack after the nurse said she called the police. After she calmed down, Gillian said she walked into the hallway, and the cops were waiting for her. The mother said the police were a bit aggressive but she didn’t think to register because those were not her intentions.
Police told Gillian that the nurse told them she felt threatened. But the mother responded to this claim by saying that she was about eight months pregnant and did not pose a threat to anyone. Police also said that Smigo alleged that Jillian came to the station to “Note for a free ride.”
The police left, and Jillian sat in the hallway to wait for the paper the doctor had approved.
The nurse allegedly calls the mother “a piece of sh*t”
Not quite finished with Gillian, the nurse approached her. But the mother tried to ignore her by focusing on her phone. However, the nurse stood in front of Gillian and asked: “What were you thinking when you got pregnant?” Gillian didn’t answer, but the nurse kept trying to start a conversation.
“So I finally just said, ‘Listen, I don’t care what you’re going to say. Please get off my face, go on with your day.’ So she said, ‘Gillian you’re a piece of shit.’ What were you thinking when you opened your legs and got pregnant? “From there, I immediately ran over to my camera,” she said.

But, again, the nurse insisted that she asked the question to understand Gillian’s mindset and repeated her statement “what were you thinking”. Jillian replied, “I was thinking about having a baby,” She stated that she was at a loss as to the direction of the conversation.

Then Smeijo said she made it clear to Gillian that giving her a letter is “Forgery” and that the content in her medical chart is incorrect, despite giving Dr. Gillian her note.
“How do you know how I feel, how do you know how my body feels inside,” Gillian said.
“Because I put my hand there and examined your cervix,” Smigo replied with a laugh.
The mother responded by shooting again, recording the parts of the body and the symptoms that affected her. Smigo muttered something before starting toward the front door of the Center.
The mother reveals that she is recording, Smigo swings at her in response
At that point, Jillian revealed that she was recording the conversation by pointing the camera directly at Smeijo.
Smigo reacted by swinging a stationery in Gillian’s direction several times and trying to grab the phone from the mother’s hand. To drive Smigo away, Jillian extended her hand in front of her. Smigo was walking back and forth, threatening him to call the police again. Finally, she walked toward the front door laughing out loud, and Jillian pointed the camera to show a sign with the center’s name on it.
This is how black women experience maternal mortality at such high rates. And why would this second nurse guess the doctor? Moreover, what is the work of this nurse if the patient does not want to work during pregnancy? pic.twitter.com/oQSAlwAUiK

The center allegedly responds to viral video; hanging nurse
Jillian gave another update on TikTok for those who follow her status. The pregnancy center appears to have responded to the incident in the comments section with a lengthy statement – placing the blame primarily on the patient. Several Twitter users also claimed that they received the same information after emailing a complaint on Jillian’s behalf.
“Although patients are always right and health care providers should never conflict with patients and avoid at all costs any verbal or physical conflict – it was the patient who called names, swears, and used unacceptable language when I heard the NP was not thinking,” she commented: “She needs to get an excuse letter from work.” They added, “We do not deserve the kind of treatment and harassment that we have endured by this patient and her followers on and off social media.”
Gillian also said she spoke to the center’s doctor by phone after the video went viral. The doctor allegedly blamed Gillian. However, Gillian said the center suspended Smeijo but did not fire her.
