Speaking to BuzzFeed News, she added, “I’ve been told for a long time, especially in Hollywood You gotta be a certain way, you gotta be nice, you got to please people, you gotta be a good girl, you walk straight and narrowAnd I felt that the things that were inside me and real were something bad, something filthy, something “not” or wrong, and so I kept trying to hide it.”
This makes her final decision to finally take the adventure — with the unwavering support of her husband — all the more inspiring, and Ward hopes her story will encourage others to live their truth.
“My story was porn, and it’s more than a lewd story, it’s not a story for everyone,” she began. “But people were told ‘no’ about the things they wanted to do, about someone they wanted to be, or about who they really were. They were asked to hide it…and I think that’s a true story about ‘yes’.”
“I hope that people can get inspiration and get hope from that that they can change their lives and make their lives whatever they want, no matter what other people tell them they are supposed to do or are supposed to do,” Ward added.
Now Ward runs her own business and shoots online content and live broadcasts while also starring in professional adult films. She was a huge hit and won industry awards for her performance, and after years of struggling to find work as a “lead” actress in Hollywood, she described the level of control she finally had in her career as “the most liberating thing”.
