Transportation stocks are dropping twice as fast as the hard-hit US stock market, reflecting investors’ expectations of a possible recession in the future.
The Dow Jones Transportation Index, which tracks 20 large US companies ranging from airlines to railroads to truck drivers, is down 12% this month. The S&P 500 and Dow Jones industrial indexes nearly halved.
