Russia carried out more than 600 attacks on Ukrainian healthcare facilities

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), the Russian Federation has carried out 620 attacks on health services in Ukraine since the start of the massive invasion.

This was stated by Hans Kluge, WHO regional director for Europe, Friday at a press conference on the health effects of the war in Ukraine, Ukrenform reports with reference to CNN.

He said the WHO’s main priorities include the health needs of those in Ukraine and “anticipate and prepare for challenges in the winter”.

“The challenges of winter, and the recent escalation in the fighting, could add to significant internal displacement with two to three million people expected in Ukraine itself as well as another massive exodus of refugees into neighboring countries,” he said.

In addition, according to Kluge, mental health issues are likely to “exacerbate”, which is another priority of the World Health Organization.

“Ten million people… are likely to be at risk for mental disorders, including acute stress, anxiety, depression, substance abuse and post-traumatic stress disorder,” he said, adding that this estimate was made prior to the recent escalation in Ukraine.

As reported, EU Commissioner for Home Affairs Ylva Johansson said EU countries should be prepared to increase the influx of Ukrainians, especially as winter approaches.
