President Trump expects the University of Florida to regret appointing Winnie Ben Sassi as its president

RINO Senator Ben Sasse resigns from the US Senate.

He is the only final candidate to become the president of the University of Florida.

The Tampa Bay Times reported:

In a highly anticipated announcement after a year of turmoil on campus, the University of Florida said Thursday it has focused on a national political figure to be its next president: US Republican Senator Ben Sasse of Nebraska.

Sassi, 50, has emerged as the only finalist in a research conducted under a new Florida law that keeps key early stages of the public university’s presidential selection process out of the public eye. But UF officials sought to allay any concerns, calling their operation “extensive.”

Members of the school’s presidential research committee reached out to more than 700 leaders nationwide, narrowing the field to what they called “dozens of highly qualified candidates,” including nine who were presidents at major research universities. The university refused to name anyone in that group, citing the new law.

Donald Trump said the University of Florida would regret its decision to appoint Sasse – DeSantis has yet to respond.

Politico reported:

Fallout – It would be interesting to see how a conservative Republican senator would fit in in Gainesville, but Sassi’s nomination is already meeting opposition from one of the leading politicians: former President Donald Trump. As Emily L. Mahoney of the Tampa Bay Times explained, Trump took to his social media account to say the UF would “regret” its decision to appoint Sassi, who was one of a handful of Republican senators who voted to convict Trump after January. 6. Riots in the US Capitol. Trump has combined it with “weak” and “ineffective” RINOs. However, Governor Ron DeSantis’ administration praised Sassi’s appointment. Hmmm.

– Where’s Ron? Nothing official has been announced about Governor DeSantis.

With the resignation of RINO Sasse, there is a possibility that a true conservative senator will replace him.

But the governor of Nebraska will choose his replacement and he is a Trump supporter.

Newsweek reported:

The expected resignation of Republican Senator Ben Sasse, one of the few senators who voted to convict former President Donald Trump in his February 2021 impeachment trial, will allow the Nebraska governor to appoint a replacement to fill the seat.

Among the names included in an initial wave of speculation Thursday are Nebraska Republican Representatives Mike Flood and Don Bacon, as well as outgoing Governor Pete Ricketts. Under Nebraska law, the state governor is responsible for filling vacancies in the representation of Nebraska in the United States Senate.

Jeff Lorenz, associate professor of political science at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, told Newsweek that Ricketts, a Republican who is not seeking re-election because of term limits, is the person most likely to hold Sassi’s seat.

Will the real conservative fill Sassi’s seat?
